Procedure:

  • obtain a copy of “The Watsons go to Birmingham” by Tuesday, January 22
  • Word Wisdom pages 94-99 due Wednesday
  • Study U5P1 posttest this Thursday

Wednesday, 1-16-13
Daily Objective:

  • Check current understanding of U5P1 words
  • Learn, model and apply smart test taking skills to OAA reading tests (and other tests)
  • Find and use contextual evidence as support when answering literal and inferential questions.
    • Use a highlighter and write notes in the margin when trying to confirm correct answers.
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Check/Correct WW pages 94-99 with a student leader while I walk around and stamp completed homework pages
  • Distribute “Smart Test Taking Tips” (handout) and read carefully/discuss with class
  • Redistribute Practice OAA tests from yesterday and begin applying smart test taking tips while (re)taking the test together as a class, discussing each possible answer, finding proof in the passage to support correct answers, and making notes in the margin
HW:
  • Prepare for tomorrow’s posttest over U5P1
  • “Get the book!” (Watsons go to Birmingham” )by Tuesday, Jan. 22nd

  • Demonstrate mastery of U5P1 words
  • Find and use contextual evidence as support when answering literal and inferential questions.
    • Use a highlighter and write notes in the margin when trying to confirm correct answers.
  • Learn to use and complete a log to track progress and areas of strength/weakness
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Take U5P1 Posttest
    • Correct answers together, if time.
  • Redistribute Practice OAA tests; continue using “Smart Test Taking Tips” handout as a model
    • Discuss/correct answers
  • Distribute and model how to complete the Practice OAA Results Log
  • If time, show student videos on wiki page (Christmas carols)
